Young for Old Invitation Auction
On Saturday Night of 30th. August, the Young for Old Group, that supports Samford Museum by running an Annual Fund-raiser Night, held their third event at the Museum. Gillian Blackett and her able supporters once again turned on a grand evening.
The night was a fabulous spring evening with stars twinkling above. The Museum grounds had been transformed into a great venue, with the Museum members and others working hard on Saturday, preparing for the occasion. The fundraisder formula of an invitation only auction combined with refreshments was once again a phenomenal success.
The guests were, after the auction, entertained by the Blue Tongues Band, complete with Blue Heeler and Stock Whip, and danced the night away under the stars.
This year the generated funds are to go to assisting to pay for the much needed "Shade Pavilion", where our many visiting community groups can be comfortably accommodated for viewing our timber demonstrations, having morning or afternoon tea or enjoy a tasty sausage sizzle lunch.
The completion of this Pavilion will enhance all our various activities throughout the year.
To commemorate the generosity of donors to this event, those who donated $500.00 or more, are to be listed on a brass plaque to be permanently displayed in the Pavilion and are to be treated to an 'Afternoon Tea and Unveiling Ceremony' later in the year.
We thank not only those on this plaque but all who so generously donated to this cause.
The Museum Members gratefully thank the Young for Old Group for their stirling efforts and continued support.
The Pavilion "Grand Opening" was held in the November at the Afternoon Tea with the Donors Board being unveiled by Gillian Blacket and Belinda Norton.
