Toys of Times Past
- completed January 2012
Never to be daunted out intrepid President has forged ahead with
this project to bring it to fruition, for this Australia Day 2012.
The Toy Display has been incorporated into the next section of
"The Bunkers". It features many restored toys and dolls from past years.
It is be a fascinating Display.
New Stationary Engines Shed - completed January 2011.
The volunteer men who work on a Wednesday and at other times when
necessary worked hard throughout 2010 to bring this new shed into
being.
It now houses the restored stationary engines that used to run much of
the equipment on the early farm holdings of the Valley.
We are very proud of their efforts in providing yet another great display.
TV Dispaly Unit- completed February 2011.
A large screen, drop-down Tv Unit has been desiogned and built by the volunteers of the Museum
We have used this unit consistently since it was commissioned.
it has enhanced the experiences of all our groups and even for ourselves,
as we watch relevant topics at lunch times.
Now Planning
1. Blue Gum Media and Samford Museum are collaborating on the production of
a DVD on the Early Timber Industry Skills that are now becoming less
and less able to be demonstrated by the few skilled old time timber men we have
in our midst.
Again the support of MBRC & RADF funding has made this possible.
The filming for this project has been extended owing to some extra research and location finding.
It is hoped to launch the DVD later in 2012.
So far this is proving to be a great addition to our methods of presenting the past.
2. The planning for a new display -A Walk -Through Dairy - is currently
underway. A dissused local dairy has become available for this purpose.Currently this proposal hangs on getting extra land
and negotations on lease renewals with MBRC.
We are hopeful of implementing this project in the not too far distant future.

Anzac Day at Samford Museum is generally an adjunct to the Anzac Ceremony held at the RSL Memorial Park in Main Street.
Queensland Day sees several guest respite facilities clients enjoy a special day at our Museum to reminiscence over past experiences. Our Timber Skills Demonstration and Teaching in the Provisional School are especially liked.
Samford Historical Walking Trail.
Since the opening in 2009 this Trail has been very popular
with visitors so much so that 7000 brochures have been distributed.
In 2010 the Museum added a complementary marker for the Currell Bakery which
stood on part of the now Samford Hotel Complex.. The marker was unveiled in
September when a large group of Currell Family members and local residents gathered
at the site and later enjoyed morning tea at the Museum.
Q150 Shade Building
This structure has been one of the most beneficial initiatives to the daily
running of the Museum Activities and the Museum is grateful for having it.
Samford Museum is pleased and proud to announce that,
with a grant received from the Queensland Government in respect of funding assistance
in establishing a Diaorama War Time Line Display in the acquired Grovely Train
Station has been completed
It was opened to the public as a permanent display on 11-11-2009 by Lieut. General
Simon Hardy, Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera, Qld.. It is proving to be a very
popular attraction and now forms a central focus for our Anzac Day Event..
