Archibald Young moved to the Moreton Bay District in 1844. He stayed for 15 years in the area defined by Cunninghams Gap, The Fassifern, Ipswich, Brisbane and Samford. During these years Young spent time as and innkeeper, farmer, certified juror, illegal squatter, horse breeder and lessee of a cattle station. He left the district for an address ”beyond the seas”.
